This Briefing Book was prepared for release at a May 14,
2001 press conference on the Pentagon's Strategic Defense Review. Secretary
of Defense Donald Rumsfeld is expected to release the Review later this
week. This collection of short essays by leading critics of the Bush administration's
defense strategy and spending increases examines the proposals and implications
of the most important of the defense review's 20-odd different panels.
The Briefing Book was compiled by Marcus Corbin (Center for Defense
Information) and Miriam Pemberton (Foreign Policy In Focus).
